Critical Care Medicine
The Critical Care Unit of West China Hospital of Sichuan University was established in May 1992. Through years` development, the Unit has 3 professors, 6 attending doctors, and many experienced nurses, providing high-quality services to patients of west China. The Unit also tries to create excellent critical care training environments for nursing staffs, interns, residents, fellowship and respiratory care technicians.
The Unit has 83 wards, and each equips a bed and a bedside monitor, a ventilator, an infusion pump and other apparatus, ensuring professional treatment of critically ill patients for organ function support, severe infection therapy, nutrition, and long-distance transport.
In addition, the medical staff is full of youthful spirits. The director Prof. Kang Yan is an expert in the fundamental research and clinical practice of organ function support, severe infection therapy and clinical nutrition, and Prof. Luo Chuanxing is a veteran in the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis, management of postoperative patients going through liver transplantation and long-distance transport of severely ill patients.
In order to improve diagnostic methods and management in critical care medicine, many trainings related to critical care will continually be held by the department and other medical societies. As a result, the department is confident that patients can get the best care from the outstanding medical team and treating environment.
